Alyssa C. Opishinski – Good, Quick, Cheap: Historically Inaccurate Costume Design Choices in Austen Adaptations

Join us for this wonderful talk from the 2021 Chicago AGM!

Historical accuracy in film and theatre is extremely rare and difficult to achieve. This presentation offers insight into the roles of the designer and costumes to foster an understanding and appreciation of it as a living art form, rather than as a failed historic recreation. The audience will be taken on the journey of “concept to costume,” exploring costume design theory to practical problems faced by the designer.

Box Hill Picnic

Box lunch, books and being outside together!  Hope you can join us in person for our annual Box Hill Picnic!  Bring a bag or box lunch for yourself and something yummy to share with everyone.  If you have a book that you can bring to exchange that would be even better. A tour around the grounds, a game of Whist, some conversation with new or old friends.  Please join us!

Please bring a brown bag or picnic lunch for yourself and a dessert to share with others! We will provide some tea, but please bring water or any other cool beverage you like. The event is outside, so we suggest brining a parasol or a bonnet to keep sun or rain off your delicate skin!
